Plant-Based Impossible Burgers to Launch in Stores in 2019

Plant-based Impossible Burger patties will be available for purchase at grocery stores nationwide in 2019. While California-based brand Impossible Foods has not confirmed further details, CEO Patrick Brown revealed that the grocery store launch is a result of consumer demand. “By far, the number one message from fans on social media is, ‘When will I be able to buy and cook the Impossible Burger at home?’” Brown said. “We can’t wait until home chefs experience the magic and delight of the first plant-based meat that actually cooks and tastes like meat from animals—without any compromise.” According to the company, Americans have consumed more than 13 million Impossible Burgers since the company launched the plant-based patty at select restaurants in 2016. The innovative patties are now available at approximately 5,000 restaurants (such as fast-food chain White Castle) in all 50 states across the country. Prior to its retail debut, Impossible Foods will continue to expand to the menus of national chains this month, including 30 locations of California-based hot-dog eatery Dog Haus and 55 locations of Florida-based Hurricane Grill & Wings.
